The South Yarmouth Tennis Club’s Youth Tennis Program kicks off Monday July 2 and runs for eight weeks on a Monday Wednesday Friday 12:30 – 2:30 schedule. Under the direction of Tennis Director Rich Shannon, assisted by SYTC Assistant Pro Cam Mazzoni and Cape Cod High School tennis coaches Doug Leonard and Jimmy Bisazza, the program offers a great opportunity for younger players to develop their tennis skills and fitness in a fast-moving, fun-oriented atmosphere.
In addition to Cam Mazzoni, top Cape players including Max Francis, Sonny Bisazza, Tyler Shibles, Patrick Wyeth, Anna Bach and Julia Smith have “graduated” from the youth program and gone on to high school championships and college competition.
“Younger players on Cape do not have much chance to play on clay. Yet internationally many of the best players learn, train and compete on clay courts, where they can develop the consistent groundstrokes and aerobic fitness necessary for tennis success. South Yarmouth Tennis is committed to offering a combination of youth instruction and an affordable youth membership that will keep the next generation of players focused on tennis and hitting on the SYTC clay right through their college years,” said club President Stan Werlin.
