Many SYTC members attended - some in period garb. Out thanks to our gracious hosts and to everyone who brought so many good food items.
Our thanks to club members who generously open their hearts and homes and share their spectacular locations. Last Sunday, Mario and Patti Sakellis hosted a delicious brunch for players after mixed doubles at their lovely home.

Four of the best tennis players Cape Cod has ever produced graced the courts of the South Yarmouth Tennis Club late Saturday afternoon for a rousing full three-set match. Club members and visitors alike were treated to some outstanding tennis and a tasty pot luck dinner. In the end, the victors (Wyeth and Mazzoni) withstood an onslaught of terrific shots and lengthy rallies.
Each player, now playing in college, cut their teeth on the courts of the South Yarmouth Tennis Club and participated in the club's Youth Tennis Instruction Program, under the direction of Club Tennis Director Rich Shannon. It's gratifying to see what great players and what good young men they have become.
The South Yarmouth Tennis Club’s Youth Tennis Program kicks off Monday July 2 and runs for eight weeks on a Monday Wednesday Friday 12:30 – 2:30 schedule. Under the direction of Tennis Director Rich Shannon, assisted by SYTC Assistant Pro Cam Mazzoni and Cape Cod High School tennis coaches Doug Leonard and Jimmy Bisazza, the program offers a great opportunity for younger players to develop their tennis skills and fitness in a fast-moving, fun-oriented atmosphere.
In addition to Cam Mazzoni, top Cape players including Max Francis, Sonny Bisazza, Tyler Shibles, Patrick Wyeth, Anna Bach and Julia Smith have “graduated” from the youth program and gone on to high school championships and college competition.
“Younger players on Cape do not have much chance to play on clay. Yet internationally many of the best players learn, train and compete on clay courts, where they can develop the consistent groundstrokes and aerobic fitness necessary for tennis success. South Yarmouth Tennis is committed to offering a combination of youth instruction and an affordable youth membership that will keep the next generation of players focused on tennis and hitting on the SYTC clay right through their college years,” said club President Stan Werlin.

South Yarmouth Tennis's new 7.0 USTA 55's & over Mixed Doubles team came away with a home court victory yesterday with wins on all three courts! Congratulations to Jackie and Henry for winning Doubles 1. It was fun to watch and we encourage members to come by to support the home team! On to Willy's on Tuesday, June 26.

The sound of the serve off the big servers' racquets was like the crack of a cannon every time… exactly the sound you hear at pro tennis tournaments,” he said.
